The systems will for two new ferries owned by Transport for London
Norwegian Electric Systems (NES) and Remontowa Shipbuilding have signed a contract worth 25-30m NOK for the delivery of two hybrid electric systems.
The systems will for two new ferries owned by Transport for London, operating the link between Woolwich and North Woolwich across the River Thames.
Norwegian Electric Systems package consists of ultralight converters forming a DC-grid system with totally four battery packages, two on each side of the DC-bus for redundancy.
For the main propulsion, there are used water-cooled, high efficiency permanent magnet motors and four direct driven propellers.
The complete integrated DC-Grid system also consists of, generators, DC switchboards, low loss Quadro Drive DC/AC and AC/DC, project management, commissioning and sea trial.
